Support Staff

Mrs Hollingsworth is the class teacher and Miss Rowbotham is the support. In our first year in Key Stage 2 we will become confident, independent learners who love to learn and share our experiences.

In Year 3, we have a positive learning attitude and work hard to achieve our personal goals and targets. We all try to make the right 'CHOICES' and give 100% in everything we do.

Classroom Environment

Our classroom is set up to allow all children to learn to the best of their abilities. We love reading in Year 3. We are very lucky to have lots of wonderful reading books all about our foundation subject topics.  To help us with our learning we have lots of learning displays with must know facts and visual resources we can look at.  We learn about lots of interesting things in Year 3 and display our learning because we are always very proud of it.

What we have been up to...

Geography

We enjoyed learning about rivers and how they are formed. We created plasticine models to show our knowledge of our how a river is formed.

Summerhill

We were really lucky to have Grace join us for 2 sessions. We got to experiment with and play lots of different instruments. We went to Summerhill and used Grace's recording equipment to record nature sounds we could here. It was very interesting and made us  think carefully about the sounds we hear in every day life. own sounds!

History

In history we learned about the Industrial Revolution and the first railways. We loved our taste of working in a factory... even though the pay and conditions were a bit rubbish. Mrs Hollingsworth enjoyed it a bit too much we think!

Our Trip to St Hilda's

We visited St Hilda's Church to start our RE unit on Advent and why it is important to Christians. We enjoyed listening to all of the different stories the actors had to tell us.

Things you can support your child with this half term

Reading Daily - Read with your child, to your child, listen to them read. Talk to them about books and which ones you enjoyed most when you were little.

Times Tables - In Year 3 we are working really hard to get better at recalling facts for our 2,5,10,3,4 and 8 times tables, Play games and quick fire quizzes to help your child with their speed and knowledge.

Handwriting -Ask your child to write a card or a thank you in their neatest handwriting. It really will make all the difference.
