From a child's very first day in reception, all the way through to Year 6 we support children to make the right 'CHOICES' to enable them to grow into well-rounded, motivated individual.
In Year 1, we have a positive learning attitude and work hard to achieve our personal goals and targets. We all try to make the right 'CHOICES' and give a 100% in everything we do. In Year 1 we like to work as a team supporting each other as we learn and succeed together.
Classroom Environment
Year 1 has a lovely open-plan classroom which has a range of different areas to be accessed throughout the day. These area allow the children to develop their knowledge and understand independently, applying their reading, writing and maths skills across a range of tasks. The areas help reinforce previous learning.
We have a writing area which changes themes throughout the year. The themes range from linking independent learning with foundation subjects topic, the interests of the children or special festival/events throughout the year. |
We have a variety of books children can share with each other and staff. Our children love reading in the reading corner during guided reading times and during independent learning time. |
We have challenge tables that Year 1 children can independently access throughout the day, the challenges are a mix of learning games and activities that will reinforce their learning. |
Timetable
At Rift House we aim for your child to participate in a broad curriculum. Our timetable shows various opportunities that your child will access daily, including opportunities for mindfulness, Primary Movement and energizers.
