Welcome to Class 6 (Year 4) with Miss Malone and Miss Smith.
In Year 4, we have a positive learning attitude and work hard to achieve our personal goals and targets. We all try to make the right CHOICES and give 100% in everything we do.
Classroom Environment
Displays are used in the classroom to help reinforce vocabulary for learning and to show case the amazing work produced by Year 4.

At Rift House we aim for your child to participate in a broad and balanced curriculum. Our timetable shows various opportunities that your child will access daily, including opportunities for mindfulness, Primary Movement and Energizers.
Things you can support your child in over this half term.....
- Children are expected to read EVERY night and they will share what they have read on a morning in school during book talk.
- A focus in Year 4 will be on times tables. All children will take the test in June. Please practice times tables as often as possible. Here are some useful websites to help

What we have been up to
We really enjoyed our Art topic all about the artist Mackenzie Thorpe this term. We developed our skills in drawing and mixing colours.
In French, we played many different activities to learn how to ask and say the time. We played What time is it Mr Wolf, role play activities and french bingo..
In Geography, we went to Summerhill to build shelters just like early settlers did in Hartlepool. W also learnt how to read maps and took part in an orienteering competition
In PE, we have been developing our cricket skills. We then used these skills in game situations
In RE, we studies Christianity and the importance of the Bible..
We really enjoyed our Science topic about sound. We carried out lots of investigations such as how sound is made, creating our own musical instruments and how sounds travels the fastest in Liquids, gases or solids.
In history, we have been learning all about Anglo-Saxon Britain. We got to experience an educational visit to Jarrow Hall and looked at St Bede and how Anglo=Saxons lived.
We created our own Anglo-Saxon villages
In Design Technology, we made our own kites. First we designed them, then measured different shapes and materials and then we evaluated them.
In French, we played lots of games and role played saying what our family members are.
In RE, we discussed the topic-Why Jesus is the light of the world. We got to create our own advent wreaths with positive messages written on them.
In Science, found out all about the digestive process. We had lots of fun labeling the different parts of the body.Enter text...
