Primary & Secondary School Admissions

Primary and Secondary School Admissions for September 2023

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child.  You may wish to obtain as much information as you can about them. This will give you a better idea of which schools might suit your child best.  For example, you might like to:

  • Visit the schools - by making appointments with the schools that you are interested in.  Secondary schools also host open events, details of which are included in the Education in Hartlepool Booklet
  • Read the schools' most recent Ofsted reports.
  • Read the schools' prospectuses.

Hartlepool schools are very popular and it is not always possible to offer you the place you want for your child. When there are more applications than places available, we need a process to decide which children get a place.  These arrangements must be fair and follow the requirements of School Admissions Code.  Please refer to the school admissions for more information on the schools you are interested in.

In Year School Admissions (Transfers)

Hartlepool Council Admissions Team co-ordinate in year admissions for all primary and secondary schools within the town.  An in year admission is when a parent wishes to apply for a place at a school that is not during normal rounds of entry (eg Reception – starting primary school or Year 7 – moving from primary to secondary school).  Should you wish to apply to transfer to our school, please complete and return a form which can be found by clicking on the following link  :
